Half-Life 2 Performance

Typically, Half-Life 2 favors ATI hardware. The X800 XL handles this benchmark better than the rest of the cards in the group, but the 6800 cards still manage to hold their own against the X800 GTO and 6600 GT. While this game is a bit CPU limited at lower resolutions, Valve's Source engine is fairly popular and that makes HL2 a worth while test.

Also, like someone else mentioned, the lowest price I've seen for a 6800GT is $280.

Why would you buy an X1600XT over a X800GTO anyway? GTO is much faster.

Especially if you're one of the PPU dislikers.

But, IMHO the X800GTO^2 are the better deal for the modder, as they have x850 cores in them.

connect3D x800GTO's are the same as the sapphire x800GTO2's, being that they're moddable to x850xt's as well. They retail for about $180 too.

Are there any GTO/GTO2 softmoddable cards for PCI?

What's the best PCI card out there right now?

This bascially introduced 6800 GT performance at a lower price point, these cards perform very similarily and that isn't surprising. Long live competition.
